How to Deal With a Nagging Wife

Husbands and wives who fight often can cause great distress. Fights between themselves often involve other family members as well, even other members of the same household. Many may view them as enemies; however, according to Scripture it teaches us to treat our neighbors as ourselves – that doesn’t mean loving enemies unconditionally but taking the high road in conflict resolution when necessary; Nagging wives should certainly not be overlooked!

Nagging can be an enormously detrimental element in any relationship, creating great emotional stress for both partners. Thankfully, the Bible provides various means by which nagging wives can be addressed effectively.

Proverbs 19:13 states: A contentious wife can be like the constant drizzle on a rainy day; an argumentative wife will often result in disputes that lead to more disputes between husband and wife, more contention among families, and even further raindrops falling down from above.

Ancient wives had power over certain aspects of household life, and could use that power to manipulate their husbands by nagging or seducing them. Even today, men may often nag at their wives if they feel unfairly treated, yet both should remember the centrality of Christ for their identities, and be submissive out of respect for one another’s regenerated souls.

An unhappy and stressed-out husband allows himself to become miserable and stressed out as his wife constantly complains, hindering his work or ministry efforts and enjoyment of time with him. On the flipside, an often complaining wife cannot fully enjoy time spent together either.

The biblical teaching on nagging is clear. To stay productive and to keep one’s temper under control, it is best to avoid such behavior in order to stay productive and not let one’s temper flare up. Furthermore, both spouses should remember who they are in Christ and not attempt to compromise their regenerated souls or Scripture’s truthfulness. If one spouse engages in persistent nagging behavior it is essential that this issue is immediately dealt with to save their marriage from further distress; otherwise it might be better for both to part ways rather than endure prolonged pain and stress.
